Vanderbilt has the most difficult time becoming bowl eligible. (As soon as I say this, they will upset Florida next weekend) They started out this season with 5 straight wins. One more win and they became bowl eligible. People in Nashville were excited. College Gameday made the trip for the Auburn game. They were sitting at the top of the SEC East. Talks of a bowl game seemed legitimate. Then, the Commodores hit a stretch against a lowly Mississippi State team, a very good Georgia team and a surprisingly good Duke team. All 3 of those games ended in a loss. The Commodores still need 1 win to become bowl eligible. Their remaning opponents are Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wake Forest. History is not on Vandy’s side however. In 2007, they got to 5 wins and needed just 1 win to become bowl eligible. They had four games to do it. Their opponents then? Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wake Forest. In 2006, they needed to win 2 of their final 3 games to become bowl eligible. They lost all 3. In 2005, they started 4-0. Then they lost 6 straight games before beating Tennessee in the final game of the season. Will 2007 repeat itself or will Vanderbilt finally break through and get to play in another bowl game?
